This year’s conference offers specialized student programming for up-and-coming professional communicators.
What’s In Store
Students attending the conference will have the opportunity to participate in special events designed to provide real-world experiences, as well participate in all professional general and breakout sessions.
Real-world experiences are important for students. This year’s conference will bring back student-specific programming, such as the much-lauded Apprentice Program. During this case competition, student teams will hear from business professionals about a current business issue or opportunity. Each student team, assigned to a unique problem, will work in real-time to develop a plan to address the challenges. The teams will then present their plans to an audience of professional and students for discussion and judging.
2009 Business Cases:

“Social Media Strategy for Customer Communication,” AkzoNobel Paints LLC http://www.liquidnails.com
“Branding for a Neighborhood Housing Association,” Neighborhood Housing Association http://www.nhalorain.org
“Marketing New Technology: Platform or Solution?” Rhiza Labs http://www.rhizalabs.com/
“PolyOne Celebrates 10 Years,” PolyOne Corporation http://www.polyone.com/
Additionally, look for professional networking events, career development activities and access to resources to prepare students for entering the communications marketplace. Students can participate in a pre-conference resume workshop where they can gain trade secrets from professionals who know what makes – and breaks – a good resume. And two can’t-be-missed panel discussions will help students get a leg up on securing an internship and/or job after graduation and learn how networking has changed in today’s world.
