About Heritage Region
The IABC Heritage Region takes its name from its historical importance both in the founding of IABC as well as in the common story of United States history that winds throughout our geographic area. In June 1970, two communication organizations, one of which was headquartered within our region's area, met in Pittsburgh, Pa., to form IABC. More than thirty years later, the organization that became IABC reorganized its then 7 U.S. districts into 3 U.S. regions, out of which the Heritage Region was born. Members of the Heritage Region live and work in states that played prominent roles in the events leading to the formation and preservation of our country.

The geographic area served by Heritage Region includes the following 17 U.S. states: Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia, plus Washington, DC.
