Volunteer

Maximize your conference experience by volunteering your time!  If you’re planning to attend the Heritage Region in Hartford, the best way to network, improve your skills and make friends is to get involved!

Volunteering is an IABC tradition that has had an immeasurable positive impact on conferences, careers, programming and professional development for members throughout the world. IABC volunteers are active, dynamic, creative individuals who possess the skills, desire, patience, and time to accomplish a wide variety of tasks.

"Action is the foundational key to all success." ~ Pablo Picasso

Get the most from your networking opportunities at the conference by volunteering at the conference! Working alongside other IABC volunteers, you'll:

  • Build and strengthen relationships with other members Develop skills and possibly build experience in areas you might not be able to in your paying job
  • Demonstrate your commitment to IABC and the profession

No matter your situation or the time you have available, you’ll find a volunteer opportunity that will fit your schedule at the conference. Specific volunteer needs during the conference include:

  • 3-4 professionals representing various communication disciplines to sit on a student conference panel (Monday, 10/13 from 3:30-4:45 p.m.) Professionals to judge communication plans developed by students (judging to be done in advance of the Conference) Conference materials collation help. (A couple of hours on Sunday morning/afternoon before the Chapter Leader Forum) Registration desk help. Staff the registration/information desk for 1-2 hours Sunday afternoon or Monday Speaker introductions: Take charge of doing the introductions and general logistics in a session (introduce yourself, your speaker, then close session with appreciation gift to speaker and reminder about evaluation forms)
  • Dine-around hosts: Be the host for one of the many dine-around groups on Monday night. Best filled by Connecticut chapter/local individuals.

Volunteers will be recognized in many ways, including on a post-conference URL at the Heritage Region IABC Web site.
