Closing Keynote: The Leader as a Teacher
Matthew Boyne
Matthew Boyne, a former naval aviator, will provide attendees with a simple method to start applying the fundamentals of this leadership approach within your organizations immediately.
Teacher-Scholar Leadership has been a philosophy used by the Navy and Marine Corps since the 1920s. This philosophy focuses on a caring relationship between people with the accomplishment of the mission and the welfare of the subordinates foremost in the leaders’ minds – contrary to the perceptions shared by many of military leadership.
Using this methodology of building leaders to teach, guide, coach, shape, inspire and mentor their teams, companies who have culturally embedded this approach are seeing sustained, superior performance by both individual contributors and teams. |
To support and encourage participation by chapter leaders in the 2008 Leadership Forum, the Heritage Region will reimburse chapters for travel and accommodation expenses, on a sliding scale. The scale is based on each chapter’s distance from the event. Chapters make the decision on how best to use this stipend. They may support the travel expense of one member, or support the travel expenses of two or more leaders, up to an aggregate total per chapter (not per leader).
Reimbursement Schedule
- Up to $250 for chapters within a 300 mile radius of Hartford, Connecticut
- Up to $400 for chapters within a 301 to 500 mile radius of Hartford, Connecticut
- Up to $550 for chapters exceeding a 500 mile radius of Hartford, Connecticut
