Mara Gordon Samuels
Heritage Region Director (2008-09)
Mara Gordon Samuels is a creative marketing
communications executive who likes to say she specializes in achieving the
“Oooh!” factor that affects customer purchasing behavior. With more than
20 years in corporate communications management, Mara’s particular
strength is in developing and executing marketing communications programs
that improve company market position, increase market share and help
companies improve the bottom line.
Mara spent
most of her career working on the corporate side of the business but in
2001 she decided to launch her own marketing consulting practice. Based
on her work experience and the skill sets acquired working at companies
such as Cisco Systems, Novell and Telcordia Technologies, she focuses her
practice in three distinct areas: Strategic Market Planning, Integrated
Communications and Event Management.
As an IABC
Leader, Mara served her local New Jersey Chapter, including heading up
their yearly IRIS awards dinner in 2003. She also spent two years on the
NJ board as Vice President of Finance. In 2005, Mara was the District One
Treasurer in its final year and in June 2007 she ended her two-year term
as Leadership Development Director of the Heritage Region.
Mara received
her Bachelor of Arts degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in
Madison, New Jersey and has participated in advanced marketing and
communications studies at Fairleigh Dickinson and Seton Hall.
Mara lives “down the shore” in New Jersey
with her husband John, 3-year old son Jay and their two Chinese Shar
Peis, Misha and Foxy. Her family also includes three step-daughters and
two year old step-grandson Silas.
